I have been a Certified Personal Trainer for over 3 years. I am truly blessed to live in Maui and fortunate to be doing something I enjoy.

Working out has always been part of my life. It started with races in the backyard, and then moved on to more elaborate events using whatever was available. As long as there was one other person, we could have a game whether it was soccer, basketball or baseball. We didn't always have the proper equipment, but we always able to make due. When I was 12 years old, my brother and I bought a set of weights. It was the Weider brand. Basically cement weights wrapped around plastic. We worked out in the backyard. We had no concept of training, no plan. However the results came quite easily. We had forged decent physiques at a young age. Girls noticed and life was good.

School atheletics brought some organization and coaching into my live. I ran cross country and track in high school. I specialized in the middle distance and long distance running and had a good amount of success. I eased off the weights to excel in running

Immediately after high school I joined the United States Marine Corps. The Marine Corps loved that I could run, and gave me all the means to excel. I represented the Marine Corps in races on the base and off. I ran four marathons while in the Marine Corps. It was in the Marine Corps that I first worked as a Trainer. I was tasked with getting Marines who could not meet the minimum physical fitness standards to an acceptable level.

In the The Marine Corps I returned to weight training. This time I did some studying and understood what I was doing. I understood the exercises, the body positioning. I understood what was happening to my body while I worked out and after I worked out. The results continued to come and I aspired to compete in bodybuilding. It did take some time for me to finally find my way to the stage. In 2002 I competed for the first time and have been doing so ever since.

At every gym I trained, members would ask me questions and mentioned that they had more confidence in me than the paid trainers at the gym. “You should be a trainer” is something I heard for years before I considered doing it in earnest.

In 2005, I completed my formal training and began working as a Personal Trainer. Training is challenging, it is rewarding. My own training for Personal Training continues. I am always in search of better concepts, new exercises, more efficient ways to doing things. It will always be a work in progress.

Good luck in your training. You can do it. I'll be glad to help you in any way I can.
